DUI Sentence

You may have heard that California DUI convictions always result in jail time. This is technically true; however with the help of the Los Angeles DUI attorney, your jail sentence could be exchanged for a period of probation.

Most first time DUI offenders can easily have their jail sentences suspended for the entire or at least part of the time in return for a “probationary period” which can be up to 2 years. During this period you are required to complete any court-mandated programs and stay out of further legal trouble.

A first time DUI probate will be required to do the following:

Report to a probation officer for up to 5 years.
Pay all fines, court costs, and monthly probation fees.
Complete community
Attend a California DUI Education class.
Maintain a job and support all of your dependants.
Submit to random drug testing.

Probates will not have their license reinstated until all education courses are completed.

Consequences increase with each priorable offense. For a second DUI conviction, at least 96 hours of jail time will be sentenced in order to qualify for probation in addition to all of the aforementioned requirements. Punishment can also increase depending on your BAC level and any other charge attached to an individual incident. A third DUI conviction will result in a minimum of 4 months in jail and an ignition interlock device being installed on your car.
